Andrea joined the Lab in October 2024. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University, Sweden. Andrea is a medicinal chemist, specializing in the design and discovery of new antibacterial compounds targeting enzymes found in Gram-negative bacteria. When not in the lab, she likes spending time with her family, running, painting and exploring nature.
Andrea is particularly interested in the semi-synthesis of novel antibiotics. She is currently involved in a synthetic biology project utilizing cluster-capturing technology to eventually produce a desired antibacterial compound. Her passion lies in designing and synthesizing antibacterial compounds capable of penetrating Gram-negative bacteria and in developing strategies to overcome resistance mechanisms.
